My cousin Emilee is getting married to this fantastic guy named Chip on March 17th and I'm the lucky girl who gets to do their photography. I took their engagement photos and they asked if I could turn one of them into pop art style for their reception. I had never done pop art style anything before, but I said sure I could figure it out. I figured it out how to turn the digital photo into pop art, but then I had this great idea...I wanted to paint it for them. Now normally I can't draw/paint people and have it look like any specific person, but I figured since there is no shading in pop art, I might be able to pull it off. Here's what I ended up with. Not an exact replica of the two of them-but hey, it's pop art-but I'm pleased with how it turned out and I had a blast and they seem to like it so it's all good.
Not many people that know the two of them follow this blog so I figure it's safe to post here without letting everyone see it before the receptions.
Holy cow. (That's basically how I start out all my comments, isn't it? Haha) So you painted this? Or turned it into this from a photo? I love it! You have a thousand talents, Marquette!
ReplyDeleteThat's way cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!
ReplyDeleteLauren, I did paint that...but I started with a photo, then I pop art-ed it with my photo software (that takes about 30 min), and then I printed it off on regular paper and made a grid and used the grid to transfer it over to the canvas so that I would get the shapes right. Even with all that I still had to redo their mouths and eyes a few times to make it look like them. But it was a lot of fun.
